My Survivors (They Ain't Zed Yet) - Update 08/16/10
« on: August 12, 2010, 04:00:00 AM »
Jace
Before Z-Day, Jace was 30 lbs over-weight and worked in a shop as a telemarketer.  Only decent skills he had was smart-ass comments and playing softball.  Neither of which was good for his job.  Z-Day changed all that, now he's quite buff and enjoying a rebellious streak (i.e. the hair!).
Wants:  He still hasn't managed to kill a zombie with a softball, but he's still going to keep trying.
Regrets:  Wished he'd gotten a tattoo before Z-day.
Favorite Weapon:  Easton Aluminum Bat

Kiran
Kiran was a student working on a degree in Biology and hoped to eventually get into medical school.  She was in the US as an exchange student.  She has no clue if her family made it and doesn't think it will be possible to get back to India any time soon.  For now, she just does what she can to survive.
Wants:  She really like to know if her family is okay (but then again, it's nice that she doesn't have to keep explaining why she hasn't gotten married yet...)
Regrets:  All those weekends she spent studying instead of having fun.
Favorite Weapon:  Walter PPKS

Miranda
Miranda was an only child in a typical middle-class family.  Dad came home sick one day and then attacked her Mom.  Both of her parents went crazy so she grabbed her doll Annabell and ran for her grandmothers house.  Only she hadn't ever tried to get there on her own and got lost.  That's when she eventually met Mr. Jace and he was nice enough to protect her from the crazy people.
Wants:  The crazy people to stop trying to bite people.
Regrets:  That Annabell isn't a braver doll (She sometimes cries at night and it makes Mr. Jace mad because he says it attracts the zombies...)
Favorite weapon:  Ear-shattering scream (although it really just seems to attract more zombies...)

Awesome! Love the back stories, really adds a lot to the figures, which are beautifully painted...

I like your format, keeps from having to write a novel, but adds enough to 'relate' to the characters...

sir, consider that stolen!

I really like, do you have any more on the table?

Lovely stuff - nice backstories, and the minis are great too. I hope there are more on the way!

Yes, the back stories really make the figures individual.

Like the paint jobs, particularly Miranda where I think you caught the little lost girl feeling with the face as well as the clothing.

Good job!

Thanks guys.  Glad you enjoyed the back-stories.  Kev White does such an awesome job sculpting these mini's that you just build the stories while you paint 'em.  Or least that's what happened to me.  I just wish I was a better photographer.   :-[

There are more on the way too.

Thanks D.  I wish I had some creative formula to unveil, but really all I did was start out with a light tan and just kept mixing in white to add layers of highlight.  It's really more of a sandy color.

Linda
Linda had been two months into her second attempt at marriage, when her husband became a zombie.  Thinking back on it now she realizes he was shmuck anyway.  She's been a survivor for six months now and has really learned a lot about her self.  She's tougher and stronger than she ever realized she could be.  Sure, she'd like to bathe more, but this life ain't so bad.
Wants:  a hot bath, a really hot bath!
Regrets:  that it took the world going to crap to discover herself
Favorite Weapon:  Glock 19

*** These other two I had already painted, but decided to go ahead and give them bio's ***

"Mack" (Malcolm)
Mack spent 10 years as a deputy in the Denton County Sheriff's Department.  Before that he'd worked as a prison guard.  He's a hard man and doesn't take a lot of crap from anyone (at least from appearances).  If you ever saw him with his daughter you'd think he was just a big teddy bear.  He's got no idea where his daughter is or if she made it, but it hasn't stopped him from searching for her.
Wants:  To know if his daughter is safe.
Regrets:  Not going straight home when Z-Day occurred to check on his family.
Favorite Weapon:  Remington Model 10

Carson
Carson had been the Texas Highway Patrol for almost 8 years when the world went down the crapper.  He's just been feeling kind of lost ever since.  He didn't really have much family before Z-Day, and his job really gave structure to his life.  Meeting up with Mack really helped him out.  Mack had a plan, a badge and a commanding voice.  Carson was happy to let someone else take the lead.
Wants:  To bring some order back to the world.
Regrets:  he has none.
Favorite Weapon:  He's got some many in the trunk of his patrol car it would be hard to list...

Nice paints, but the bases aren't to the same standard. Have you thought of using resin urban bases? Give a really nice complementary finish and support the gaming theme.
