Does anybody know what happened to the Drum?
I have been told they had a nice FIW range of buildings in 15mm.

Someone else may know better but I vaguely remeber reading somewhere that the Drum or at least some of the range was bought by Mayhem Miniatures, who in turn were bought by Kennington Miniatures.

I have a list of their products in an old Wargaming Illustrated and owned some of their 6mm buildings years ago. It was nice stuff.

I'll have a look around and see if I can find it.

Not as much FIW in the Drum range as I had hoped.
Barry can I ask where you get the magnetic bases from?

Swiftnick,

I make them.

The actual magnetic base is fridge a magnet cut to size. Real Estate Agents locally have these rather large calander magnets.

On top of the magent, I glue a textured base cast in thin resin which was made with spaces for the bases of the miniatures.

Barry,

Came back for another visit and even downloaded some images from your photo bucket of your Indian village.  Can you give some pointers on how you went about building your longhouses and wigwams and other bits?  I do have the old WI article but I'm curious what you used in 15 mm, especially for the 'bark'.  Thanks.

That's some beautiful stuff in your photobucket. I really like your blockhouse, especially.

Thanks Luckyjoe.  :)

Barry,

Sure,
The framework of the longhouses are cardboard rolls, like used with paper towel. The bark is crepe paper which has be cut into 4 inch sections. Two of these are glued together to make it a litter thicker and is quite messy. Once dry, I cut them into square/rectangles about ¼”x ⅜” and when I have enough I start clueing them into place. The re-enforcing braches are string glued into place.

The only reason I used crepe paper was that I couldn’t find tree wrap in Australia. Until the article had never heard of the stuff and
I searched for sometime without luck. I finally managed to find someone in the US who would send it to the Australia and I plan on making myself a village as described in the article this time. I’ve recently bought the Sketchbook 56 series by Ted Spring which mentioned by Herb Gundt in the article. They are around A4 size an the artwork may not be the finest and  in the words of Herb, “amateurish done” but they are packed full of useful information. Well worth the cost.

Here are the links to the six books in the series:
1: Roger’s Rangers
2: French Marines
3: The Highlanders and Provincial Rangers
4: Spanish Colonial Infantry 1739-1781
5: The Women of the French War era
6: Indian Allies

Barry,
My Blue moon figs have arrived so I am picking your brains again. In an earlier post you published a pic of a Matchlock miniature fig. I like the look off these but am wondering how they match up to the Blue moon?
Yours Swifty

Sorry mate, I don't own any Blue Moon miniatures at this point in time. Hopefully some one else will be able to help as I am interested to know as well  :)
