Your Japanese Nef's look fantastic.  I am planning on another bout of ship building in the New Year (it's just too cold at the moment) and will be using these as inspiration for a full Japanese fleet (1/300th scale of course).

Hoorah! Get drunk and make a nef, lets see what you come up with.

Hang on, that's a good idea for a build contest; see what we build under the influence. Tadaaa!

Coming along very nicely James. My planned nef builing work for this weekend had to go on hold due to a family emergency. However, I'm now back home and thinking about doing some more tonight - to be fuelled by a large G&T  ;)

Thanks again chaps.

Dave, looking forward to seeing progress on that one  :) (hope the family business wasn't too bad)

I've started to sculpt a Japanese navy crew member as there aren't really any generic crew types that took my fancy and although my sculpting technique leaves a lot to be desired I thought I'd have to give it a go sometime or other.

There is still the head and hands to do and I cheated and used an E-bob mannequin   :D One step at a time of course as this is the first 'full' sculpt I've done.

To be honest I'm fairly happy with it so far but time will tell  ::)

I would like some honest C+C ad any tips that folks might have to help me improve

*EDIT* MY God those pictures are awful  :?  :? Will sort that out later  ::)

cheers

Looks really good Jim.
The uniform look great, not so sure about the feet they look a bit big. Big tackity boots.
Like the animation in the pose.
How are you going to make him more Japanese.

Cheers Colin. I think the existing head throws the scale out a bit but on a second look the feet do look a tad large  :)

Making him look Japanese will all be down to the new head. I'm goin to trt for the Copplestone look (but tone down the cheek bones a little bit, if I can  lol )

cheers

Looking very good indeed. Can't say I'm surprised though after seeing all the buildings and accessories.

It has a kind of bauhaus look/feel about it?
