Jim, you might be able to get some small-ish dollhouse potted plant pots (which will be the size of a large planter in 28mm). Pop a lump of shubbery on top and Takeshi's yer uncle.

No idea, sorry.

Got the train lift 'motor' done  :)

It is unfortunately hand powered but I do have a rudimentary video which I shall post after Salute as I don't know, can't be bothered to find out and don't have the time to look for a way  ;D

cheers

Having re-read the thread while waiting for work to finish up this afternoon, one notices a couple of things.

1) One's terror level rises as you see the size of Mister Lord Shogun Bibbly's airborne navy grow over time.

2) Jim, don't kill me for this question.

I know there's an Anglo-Japanese alliance (subject to wheelings and dealings in the corridors of power... or the needs of a good game ;) ) and that the table and all it's terrain are intended for gaming in Blighty, but... why is there is no Japanese script anywhere?

Not that there's much lettering period, but to take something like the Sapporo smokestack as an example, why not have Roman script down two of the sides and kanji alternating down the other two sides?

*dodges thrown objects*

EDIT: Okay, I know Shogun wouldn't be correct for the period. But no one would get it if I called Jim a Gensui Rikugun Taishō

while I am trying to recover from the mind blow of seeing the working lift (have been asking myself what the steep ramp would be for already...), just a small suggestion - have you thought to run the chain over a small wheel so that it remains centered and runs smoother?

Kaw Blimey!  :o  :o  :o Did you really 'make' that Bibbles?  8)

The lack of sleep and pressure is clearly getting to you.  :'( Keep it up and blow us all away at Salute with what you've produced in such a short time.

You Sire, are a genius. I am stunned by the sheer idea to build a working cable car to get the passengers to the platform. That is most convenient and a great period technical solution! I remember riding the Nerobergbahn in Wiesbaden when I was a child. Fascinating experience with the cars run on water ballast (the downbound carīs tank was filled and it pulled the other car up by using gravity as propellant).

Thanks chaps  :)

It's a good question  :) Firstly, that is the Sapporo logo (same font etc), using English. Secondly, New Victoria is primarily a British enclave it just so happens that I've been collecting Japanese figures and Nick hasn't got his thumb out of his backside to sort the British out  lol Thirdly, I already have the English style Victorian buildings and I'm expanding it as a range and this project is kind of the test bad. I do have some Japanese buildings from the period but they are for stall display and are needed else where  :)

just a small suggestion - have you thought to run the chain over a small wheel so that it remains centered and runs smoother?

It would possibly make it worse as the chain is quite thick and needs room to coil up over itself (if that makes sense). A wheel would hinder this.

@Michi - A counter weight is a great idea and I might change it for one next year as there is no way of stopping the car at the top at the moment  :?

I would like to add my thanks for all the support for this project over the years (started this four years ago  :o and I hope to continue until the entire planet is built  :D

cheers

James
