That is the issue with fantasy (and VSF is a form of fantasy really); one persons whimsy or 'I did it because it's cool' is another persons "Stop that, it's silly!"

But I too have wondered about the lack of AAA. At least some Maxim or Gatling guns mounted to fire upwards?

But the more I think about it, isn't WW1 what would happen in a VSF war? :D

Russo-Japanese War is a better example, but WW1 isn't too far off. The Germans got their tactics for machine gun assaults from the Japanese in the earlier war.

Machine guns wouldn't be that effective as the aircraft in the VSF stuff tends to be floating ships etc and much more substantial than WW1 aircraft which were wood struts and fabric. Which is why I have 37mm Hotchkiss rotary cannons for my anti-nef guns :)
I also have a great big anti-nef gatling cannon pulled by a tractor.
So many projects..... so little time.......

WOW! That is simply the most amazing terrain I have seen. My hat is off to you sir! My one question is where do you store it? My wife is forever nagging at me two pare my collection down as it has taken over the garage.... Very inspiring. My terrain building itch is begining again.....

Well, this was shelved (quite literally, in the airing cupboard and the attic) but that doesn't mean I'm stopping. Not a chance  :D I still have a very long list of stuff to do for the project as a whole (I keep adding to it like a silly boy).

Next to make a start on is a Martian canal toll crossing. The inspiration came from Game of Thrones and the visual interpretation of the Twins (bloody big pair of castles and whacking great bridge between  :D ).

I've made a start on the first of the pair although these won't be twins as such, just tall towers guarding the canal crossing with a span or two in between.

Still a fair few details to go on and clean up. There's also going to be some projecting balconies but I'm still undecided as to their final design.

I'm thinking some sort if canopy structure on the top aswell along with maybe another round tower or two. Also got to think on the bridge connection at the rear  :)

cheers

Here he goes again.
Crippled and he is still at it.
Can nothing slow down this force of nature?

Looking great, mate.
Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

Nice shape. Who's it going to belong to? I'm assuming not the sky martians.

James that looks brilliant, and a great idea. It will look very imposing on the battlefield. Could you put a skiff docking point on the tower for loading/unloading supplies? Like one of those anchor poles that they have at dirigible landing strips. A canvas canopy would look smashing, you've certainly pulled the effect off before with your martian skiff's.

Thanks chaps  :)

City Martians who we are in the process of developing properly.

This is just for the City Martians and their ace routes and as the Earthers have not been on Mars all that long (only a few years) their influence has not yet gotten to every corner of the Red Planet  :)

Just torn ligaments in my lower back from comically slipping on the top step in my slippers  ::)

On the mend but it will take a while to fully heal  :?

Our plotter at work technically does extended printing if you have something longer than A0 but we've yet to figure out how to do it and as its not a pressing issue we haven't pursued it. I think the background bearer is quite happy the way he is  ;)

Got the balcony done and there is also a rather crap view from overhead. I thought these new dangled phones were supposed to be the bees knees  :?

I think I know how I'm going to do the bridge exit and also the interior will have a sketch to go with it to show how the doors work (not as simple as you'd first think).

I must get on with Robin Hood terrain now otherwise I'll get told off and harassed  lol

Yeah, you don't want to upset him, or get told off (whoever he is).  :D

It's looking great,  just as you described it. ;D
