Looking good, mate.
As usual....
 :-*

Your mention of a 'simple derrick' made me chuckle as that is my brother-in-law's name and I always call him/think of him as 'simple'.....I shall call him that again later!

I am always amazed at the speed with which you knock wonderful stuff together.

I may have a small tip for you (of which you may already be aware in which case I apologize): unsightly fuzz on miniature lumber which sometimes interferes with painting can be removed by wetting it, letting it dry and then giving it a quick rub with steel wool.

Many thanks chaps  :) It was a rather late one last night  lol

I use a similar technique when doing the occasional railway model which requires a greater refinement of detail. For wargaming I just let it go  :)

Finished painting using our typical Mars colours.

And a detail shot of the 'mechanism'

And two shots to show that it does actually turn on its pivot  :)

Seperate battle report to follow tonight  :D

Thanks chaps  :)

For those who missed it the battle report is here...

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=58363.0

And I've made a small encampment with a view to doing a few more as I prefer to have scenic items on bases as they tend to get shoved around when playing (even with the best will in the world).

Sandbag emplacements are also planned as we desperately need some decent defences agains the madding Martian hoards  lol

cheers

James, that camp looks quite spiffy... but now you need to convert a Japanese private who is painting those stones white :)

James, more beautiful work. I am sorry to hear those Martians got the better of your crane, but Mr Tamiya did his best. ( I lol'd when I read the character names)

With a certain someone's desire to burn all your lovely terrain... yes I am looking at you Mama... If I were you James I would build heaps of beautiful scatter terrain, and lay out the board in such a way that it's a convenient distraction, wait for the burning to happen then either run in the opposite direction or attack him in the rear.  ;D

Best of luck next time James.

Cheers
Matt

Update time  :D

Finally got round to putting a page listing on page one, rather lengthy but should help to find things a bit quicker :)

I'm getting more mobile and with less pain doing stuff so I managed to finish off the City Martian canal crossing (just the one half) and complete another coral and also finished another tent camp, a bit bigger than the last one.

Typically, not the best photos but you get the idea  ;)

And a group shot of most of the city Martian terrain to date. I unfortunately can't get the boards out for now, it'll be a couple of week before that happens  :(

I need to do some work this afternoon but I might have a go at some more viaduct later this evening  :)

cheers

James
