Dogs danglies!  :o

Great new additions! The barracks are awesome, need to start saving up… I presume it will be available for us mere mortals at some point?

Why have the Japanese left English text on the barracks' sign?

This all continues to look amazing... really captures the feel of colonial Mars! Hoping to make Salute this year to have a good look.

Thank you kindly gents  :)

At some point, once the tweaks are sorted. My wife was out when I made the sign and it is an Anglo-Japanese alliance  :D

That is cracking!

That type of garden is a parterre arrangement and was a French innovation.  :D

That's okay. Parterre got a bit of a renaissance in the UK during the latter half of the 19th Century (fell out of favour in the early 1700's). It was slightly different in that it used blocks of coloured planting to form the shapes and forms rather than just the hedging but hedging was still used in places. The flowers/plants used were annuals so lived and died in the one year, requiring a full replant each time. This did allow them to showcase the 'latest' horticultural fashions though :)

Clearly the officer residing is a bit of a traditionalist who likes the hedging. Also, given the harsher climate the block colour planting only lasts a short time and has currently been cleared in preparation for the replanting.

(I don't know, botany lessons on monocot plants not long ago and now garden history. Clearly my time at uni wasn't totally wasted  :D)
So many projects..... so little time.......

The joy of Victorian glass houses, meant they could could control their planting schemes almost ignoring seasons.

And yet I've still never gotten around to visiting Kew  ::)
