[Nap] Brigadier Gerard (pic)
« on: 20 August 2010, 04:18:48 PM »
I'm working on a Nap courier game (inspired by the game created by Malcolm McCallum). This is the first of 12 couriers; 6 Hussars and 6 Orderlies. There will be mounted and dismounted versions of each courier to accommodate game events.

The first one I've finished is none other than Brigadier Gerard of the 3rd Hussars of Conflans. Mounted version has Gerard on his little grey mare, Violette.

Mounted version from Perry plastic Hussars box. Dismounted version from Perry FN51 with a head swap (plastic).

Very, very nice. I have fond memories of reading the Brigadier Gerard books many years ago, still some of my favourite stories. :)

Well done! I see you have gone for the grey interpretation of "gris argentine". I went with more blue since it seemed more in keeping with the brigadier's personality.

I was going to go with a lighter blue, too, but according to various sources, the 3rd Hussars were "blue grey" whereas the 1st, 5th and 10th had "sky blue" dolmans and breeches." So I kept it more bluish gray to differentiate. Also, one of my other Hussar couriers may be light blue, so again, differentiation.

Great work...I really like your painting style as it really gives your figure character. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely figures, beautifully painted. I always liked that 3eme Hussards uniform, and you've done it splendidly.

Funny seeing this, as like Malumute I also read and loved the stories years ago but I recently picked up a couple of books for next to nothing, so now I can revisit the Brigadier's adventures ;D

I'd be very interested in seeing a game report once you've played it out!

Painting madly so I can playtest the rules next month, then run the game in October at a local convention (Detroit, MI area) and Fall In.

Second Hussar courier posted in separate thread.

Very nice again, I think I prefer these to the red ones but that is probably just because I prefer the look of the busby

Yes, very nice figures greatly painted. But what is this "courier game" all about? A quick search on the name didn't deliver an answer.
