The Wild Roses Of Witchtown
« on: July 30, 2007, 03:28:40 PM »
Hello,

on our last day of our lead Adventure meeting in dusty southern Germany right down at the feet of the Blackwood Mountains in the quite town called Gundel Creek we decided to play a wild west game cuz it suited right into our time table.

The game was played with cards only. No dice rolling. You need a few minis and an ordinary set of poker cards. Poker chips are also recommended. they represent the lifes each figure has.

Witchtown shortly before high noon. Franky Miller humming away...

Three gangs of Gunmen gather round to kill these Ladies ( actually everybody had to draw a mission, but Zoogla the trigger happy lady player has won so quickly  that we decided all survivin` gun men go after the ladies )

Are we men enough to mess with some gals ?

No Dude

Everybody receives a hand of 5 cards. There is also an extra pile. the dealer can choose if he wants to change his hand against the extra deck.

Diamond is initiative, heart can save life points, crosses are movement and spades is shooting and damage. The higher the cards the better. Aces, Kings, Queens and Jacks are great. Jokers are superb.

Here this fella shoots the lady in the back with his Jack of Spades

Zoogla the lady player blocks this shot with a 5 of hearts.

The Lady received some damage cuz a 5 of hearts is not strong enough to compete with the Jack.

The Wild Roses want to revenge there husbands that were murdered by the infamous Butcher Gang. They already killed some bandits but it aint over til its over.

One bandit spills his guts onto main street. He lies dead in his duster on the ground. My evil pilgrim is under heavy fire from both sides. I had really bad cards 5 turns in a row and was nailed behind those barrels that gave me some protection.

Finally a good hand. Some initiative cards, an Ace Of Spades and some other shootin`. but I couldnt kill the lady. She always had an answer to my cards. Like a Stonewall she stood there turned around, aimed and fired.
The bandid was blasted away.

The innocent bystanders all ran for cover while the ladies shot it out with the villains on Death Alley.

But like in all good spaghetti western the good girls go to heaven and everywhere...

The surviving Butchers can live to tell the tale...

...or go and relax in the best little whore house in town !

The game was great fun. The rules are fantastic. I forgot there name. But Iam sure Zoogla can tell you. The rules are entertaining, fast and fun. The game is not so static like most LOTOW games were everybody hides into cover. It was the best Wild West Game I have played in the last two years.

The metal chips we used for life points are excellent spurs.... You can drop them into a basket and they cling clang like real spurs.

Those spurs, the music ( 24 great country and western evergreens ) and Dominics Karaoke singing were a great tribute to a great game

Cheers
Björn

Ace report!

I remember reading a review of those rules about 6 years ago! They sounded great then and they sound even better now!

If anyone can remember what they are called I'd be grateful too.  8)

They are from Westwind. They are the Ripper Victims from the Gothic Horror Range.
