Unit cards
« on: August 28, 2010, 07:39:51 AM »
I've been working on some unit cards for our games. I built a background card in photoshop and Indesign. Then I plug in a database with all the applicable stats and picture locations and Indesign merges them into the cards shown. I can set the print settings to put 3 cards on a page so that I can have an officer and up to 5 subordinate units on one, two sided sheet of paper. These cards have been made to use the Triumph & Tragedy rules.

Very nice indeed! Do you use T&T for your VSF games?
Don't!

They look absolutely splendid! I don't suppose Indesign is a freebie program? Can think of literally hundreds of uses for custom cards like these...  o_o

Thanks guys,

I'm going to give T&T a try for the next few games. We've been using it for our 2nd ACW campaign with some modifications and everyone has been happy with the way the rules play.

Indesign is part of an Adobe software package that Photoshop and Acrobat come with. The mail merge soft ware is called Smartstream. Its an Hewlett Packard product that I use at work for variable data print jobs on an HP Indigo high speed color printer.

You'll have to let us know how you get on with them, I've been curious about these rules for a while.

They are absolutely lovely. Very nice job! I must shamelessly steal all your ideas and produce my own, for every game system I posses!
