The Deserted Cemetery
« on: September 05, 2010, 07:04:01 PM »
Hi,

This is what happens when I read too many postings .... especially ones about “Chaos in Carpathia” and inspirational threads by “Jet” (and his great blog, as well) and others.

Over the last couple of days I have put together a few sets of ruins and dead trees and also dusted off my old cemetery and spruced it up a bit. Having worked on the pieces over the weekend I thought I would share some phots with you all.

For the dead trees I followed Jet’s lead by using some Woodland Scenic’s armatures bent to curious shapes. I also had some very old C&L tree armatures which were duly hacked about to provide variation. I based up some pre-painted “Mage Knights” items and I also used some “Snapdragon” resin tree stumps for the K&M trees.

The vampire and the ghouls are very old Games Workshop figures; the werewolves are West Wind, the hounds are from the old AD&D “blink dog” set (I still have a couple more to paint) and the mysterious stranger is an old Grenadier mini.

Nice.  I would never have thought of basing the GW cemetery.  :o

Very spooky :) nicely done, the trees are very effective.

You wouldn't catch me in there after dark!

Really atmospheric - you could doctor up some nice darkish pics in Photoshop to add to the gloom.

Where are those hounds from? They have a nice loping gait.

Hi,

Thanks for the positive comments; I'm off to "Colours" over the weekend and looking forward to getting some more minis to start a CiC game sometime.

@ Joras - The old GW Cemetry was a real bargin - picked it up for £5 and quickly worked on it for our WWWII game back last year. I added the dead trees to make it work with the new terrain pieces.

@ fsultana - Me neither :o. The hounds are the old "Blink Dogs" produced by Citadel from wayback in the mid '80s - check them out here - http://www.solegends.com/citadd1/add80bdogs/addbdogs-01.htm I still have a couple more to paint (as well as a host of other old citadel AD&D minis !)

I may tinker with some of the pics, but I'm not to computer smart when it comes to photo adjustment ...

Thanks again,

RMZ

Beautiful  :)

For some reason, I hadn't thought of using those Mage Knight columns as cemetery terrain - I may have to borrow that idea.  :D

If I had the skills, I'd make up some molds and cast them using dental plaster.

It looks very eerie and foreboding. A difficult trick to achieve with 28mm scenery, but you've done a cracking job on it. Lovely figures, too!

Now, where is the game report and pics?  ;)
