Dockyard bollards and ship items ?
« on: September 07, 2010, 11:08:58 AM »
Building a dock as part of a gaming board (Freebooter's Fate) and want something for my ships to tie up to.  (The dock will be stone) Any ideas about what to do for this?

I'm also converting some playmobil/ megablocks ships and I'm looking for some ships wheels, etc.  Pretty certain there's a company out there who make small ships and detail kits for them but lost the link when I had to rebuild the computer

Just simple squat round wooden posts will do the job just fine  :)

Pictures would be good if you have any.

I use http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/ship_fittings.html.
Another possibilty for the bollards is to cut down cannon barrels.

how about map pins from a stationary shop?
They look good for bollards in 28mm.

Good suggestion, LvT, and one that I'll add to my list of 'ideas knicked from other people'  ;)

Thanks LVT - that's a great idea for a cheap fix.

I have ended up going for large wooden pillars sunk in along the edge of the quay - they also provide a buffer to stop ships bashing into the quayside.  (idea pinched from pics of other docks from this forum - thanks guys  ;)  )

Ordered loads of stuff from cornwall model boats, mainly for the conversion of playmobil and megablocks ships.

Wow - ordered from Cornwall on Wednesday and the stuff arrived Saturday morning.  Almost as good as Frontline - I ordered on Monday and the stuff arrived Wednesday.
