My Wife's Necromunda/Zombie Hunter Gang
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:16:23 AM »
My wife and I like to do things together, but I also like to play miniature games and she's never played any. So in an attempt to up my play time, I painted he a small Hasslefree group to use as Necromunda or in my own personal Zombie rules.

Hope you all enjoy.

Nice set. Let me know how she likes them, I've got to do something similar for mine.

She actually picked all the models out herself. I asked her if she would play one of my games with me and showed her my Mordheim Sisters. She said they were ugly. I showed her my Escher Ganger, she said they were ugly. She said she wanted Hot girls. So I showed her several lines, and she picked the Hasslefree girls. I picked up the Ray for myself...

I have one left to paint, I'll get pics of the whole group when I finish her.

Isn't the heavy weapons girl a Shadowforge?

That's a VASA Special Character from Ikore's Void line. Most of that range was sculpted by Kev White, which is why it fits in with the HF stuff.

Hmmm, bit starey on the old eyes there and Shaun's got a bit of a mutation by the looks of it.  ;)

Constructively, definately go back and tidy up the edges of clothes, skin, weapons etc... Maybe try a little black lining to cleanly separate the sections on the figures. Also a little shading or ink wash/watered down paint, would do the trick.

SO where's these zombies you've done then?
Now water can flow....or water can crash...be water my friend.

I don't believe in painting the pupils in the eyes but my wife said they weren't finished until they had eyes and almost every model had to have a different color.

It's funny what you notice in the photographs that you never see on the table. I completely missed Shawn's watch. You are probably right, they may need to be cleaned up a little bit.

Ah, you would call me out on the Zombies. All I have right now are some Warhammer Zombies I painted up really quick to do a demo of my game. They would definitely not stand up well to the camera. I'll see what I can do about painting up some nice ones for you all.

Not bad, solid gaming minis.  The eyes are a bit distracting.  Hasslfree stuff is a real pain to get those eyes.  I'd suggest just running a thin black line above the eye...No white should be showing above the iris, unless they are surprised or scared (which may be the case!)

Tabletop is usually the quality I am shooting for. I'm not a display painter, don't have the patience for it. I tried some new techniques on these and they look really good from a distance(on the tabletop) but start to look a little wonky up close. The skin didn't turn out quite as smooth as I'd like on some of them either.

I was really happy with the way the face turned out on this Chaos Terminator Lord. He's still a WIP, needs detailing and basing, but happy with the results so far.
