WIP: Victorian Pub **FINISHED IT!!!!!!** Pic Heavy 17th Oct 2010
« on: September 15, 2010, 12:53:00 PM »
Just started doing this over the last couple of evenings and since taking the pictures have already decided to do some alterations!!!!

In the last picture the shop nearest the pub windows will be going. It will be replaced with a narrow alley running through to the back, with a side entrance underneath for the pub. This was my wife's idea as she thought a small alleys would give it more character ( ideal for waiting thieves etc).

I will be doing shop interiors as per my other building but will probably restrict lighting to the clock tower and pub front door.

Marvellous!  :-* That'll fit in with the gothic look nicely.

I thought about building a similar size pub but would have nowhere to store it for now!

The alley is a good idea. I had intentions of an arched entrance to a courtyard for mine to give it the look of one of the old coaching inns that used to be dotted around London.

How do you do the panneling?
Don't!

Now that's brickery. Quite an impressive structure already.

By chance, where do you get your window and door/shop front frames from? They're so fiddly to make so the more expensive option is justified for me.

The dark grey doors and windows look like Grandt Line to me.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. As I haven't been working to "plans" as such I have spent quite a lot of time swearing at it due to bad measuring ( hence the title!!!)

The "panels" are just thin card , layered to give the impression of wooden panelling. I  cut out an oblong shape from the card, trim down the bit I have cut out by a few mm and stick it back in. It gives a simple framing effect.

The shop fronts are indeed from "Grandt Line". I use the "S" scale range as the "O" Scale stuff looks huge!!! As it's a US firm it's a little difficult to find outside the States but they sell some "S" scale stuff at Antenociti's Workshop in the UK. I also got the leaded windows from Antenociti's.

I'm waiting on the windows (Plastic Ratio ones) like I used on my last build so I can start on the dormers. I will probably finish the chimneys and build the alley tonight.

I'll post more pics as I go.

Yeah, I was just looking at them in Antenociti's, though the measurements in imperial decimals put me off a bit (we use metric here).

If you call that "haven´t got a plan" doing such exercises in modelling buildings, then I am asking myself what I have got instead of your not plan with results not to even mention.

Superb, can wait to see it finished.
