Hello,

I have just uploaded a new page with lots of pictures of my Dark Elf Army.

http://www.elladan.de/047%20Darkelves%20old/047.htm

The core of this army is done with the lovely Dark Elf Miniatures from Grenadier, sculpted by Marc Copplestone. In my oppinion this are after more than 10 years since their release the best Dark Elf miniatures (at least for the common warriors). I also added some High Elf miniatures from GW – the older versions of Tyrion, Imrik, Teklis and the Dragon Princes. All this beautiful sculpts from Jes Goodwin had been painted in my Dark Elf colour scheme and fitted in perfectly (just my personal taste).
There are also some other rare models includes – a Hydra from Reaper, an old Elric miniature on an Earthbound from Grendel, a Giant Spider (Grendel) with sorceress (GW), a Giant Scorpion (Hobby Production) and some older GW Dark Elves.
I started this army more than 10 years ago, but with some nice new miniatures from GW (Black Arche Corsars, Coldone Riders and lots of miniatures in my shelve I didn't painted yet like Shadows, Beastmasters and Witch Elves) I returned to them lately.

Here some pictures of my painted Dark Elves:

More pictures and my informations of the used miniatures of every unit, character and monster can be find on my homepage.

http://www.elladan.de

And here are some of the first new models I converted and painted for my Dark Elves the last days:

I hope you like it.

Ciao

Very nice! I love the old Copplestone/Grenadier Dark Elf figures too, although I don't know how on earth you're getting them to fit on 20mm bases...! From what I remember, it was a tough fit to get them on a 25mm (they have very wide stances). This is also a flaw of the otherwise excellent Copplestone/Grenadier Wood Elves as well.

Wow - impressive stuff!

Love the giant spider and I was surprised how well the whiter than white Teclis and Tyrion fit in with the dragon knights!  lol

Really well done! Coming from so many different companies yet looking coherent this is a real delight to look at. I personally would have chosen different colors but that's only a matter of taste and doesn't do any harm to the overall appearance. Thumbs up!

Lovely, I like the colourscheme too.

Was it hard to remove the integral bases on the grenadier elves?

Elladan, I've never seen that scorpion before, nor even heard of the company.

Is it still available somewhere?  I'd love to get my hands on one!

Hello,

thank you for your nice comments. I just finished the first 7 new Dark Elf Spearmen.

I also reworked and rebased an older worrior and did some comparison shots.

More new pictures can be found here: http://www.elladan.de/047%20Darkelves%20old/047.htm

@Heldrake: As you can see it is possible to arrange the miniatures on 20mm bases. It is tough but it works.

Hi white knight,

for a long time I removed the integral bases with a special tool on my PROXXON drill. It the the tool on the right on the following picture (a very thin round saw blase).

But this is very dangerous and more than often the drill slipped away and nearly hurt me.

Today I use clippers to "cut" around the feet. Then the miniature has plateau-shoes and I use the clipper again to clip off the left over material from the base under the shoes. This is saver, faster and didn#t thin the feet/shoes. With sandpaper I smoth the surface and then I can glue the model to a new base of my choice.

I hope this helps

Ciao
