New Fantasy Flight board game - Mansions of Madness

The game looks cool enough, but it might also be a good source of minis:

I'll end up buying it.  The name sounds very familiar.  Either it's a boardgame I've played or heard of previously, or it's a Call of Cthulhu rpg supplement.

Mansions of Madness is also an old Chaosium CoC scenario book, which, by a curious coincidence, I dug out and began re-reading three days ago, intending to run 'the Plantation' for my CoC group.

Of course, with Yig sending me dreams every so often, perhaps it was more than simple coincidence.

SHIT LOOK AT THAT HOUND OF TINDALOS!  ;D

I've been dieing to get a hold of that specific design in mini form!
The price is, however, far beyond my feeble comprehension.
Hopefully they'll release the figures separately, but if they don't I'll end up getting it anyway and suffer from my destitute madness.

I think it was a LucasArts game...with an evil mastermind, investigators, tentacles and everything.

whether you’re facing a rotting zombie in the graveyard, a knife-wielding cultist in the attic, or a massive chthonian
ahh that chthonian ain't so big ;) The article mentions 24 monsters so hopefully they won't be multiples of the figures show. 24 unique figures would be really cool. Bases look a bit big though.. but they have slots for cards.

If memory serves me (and bare in mind I'm getting on!) there was a cthulhu type game a few years back that used tiles to create a random small, backwood town and had various groups (including the not-Whatleys, cultists and some sort of Goat-men) as 3-D cardboard playing peices and used a tape-measure as opposed to a grid for movement, combat etc.!

Dammed if I can remember what it was called!

QFT.

And "The Cracked and Crooked Manse" from the Mansions of Madness scenario book (that chicklewis mentioned) is one of my all-time faves as far as published CoC scenarios go...
