Massively tempted by
Hazel's start into the age of hyper-modern warfare, I had to buy some models for this setting as well. We've planned to build a small force usable for the odd skirmish on background of the (hopefully) fictious Second Russian Civil War. My first choice were the Neo-Tsarist, a wacky faction made up of heavily undersupplied partisans. Therefore (for a start!) no big guns, no mechas, but a few irregulars and their - most probably looted - transport vehicle.
All in all, those guys were nor as professionally painted as Hazel's Neo-Kornilovs nor as artfully as Doc Phobos' Neo-Orthodox Christians. However, this project has broadend my horizon quite a bit, since up to now I have avoided painting camouflage patterns, 'battle damage' and 'used look' like hell. Let's see, if I'll get the trick - and stay with it. The close-ups already make me think it all over again...
Never mind, here's yet a scale comparison for those interested:
The footsloggers are Copplestone's, partly newly employed polar explorers, partly - what a surprise! - partisans from his Neo-Soviet range. The carrier is an Old Crow model, and this company gets my highest recommendation for it. Awesome piece!
