Retro Rogue Trooper Project
« on: September 23, 2010, 09:34:23 PM »
Hello,

I have been a long time lurker and occasional poster on LAF for the past couple of years. But I finally have some pictures of one of my ongoing projects to share with you all.

For more pictures, including more GIs and Norts, some terrain and a few other bits please take a look on my flickr account:

I still have quite a few mini to paint for the project, but I have never been the fastest painter, but hopefully I will manage to update this thread from time to time.

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words.

I was not sure about Morgens colour scheme, so I will be painting another one up in the more usual black and I have another Rogue I want to do in Green fatigues

I still have a load of RT suitable minis, mostly old Rogue Trader models of the same era with the right feel to them which will keep me going for a good while yet.

I did buy the Foundry RT models, but to be honest I wish I hadn't now as they are huge and wont scale with this lot and I have been tempted by the BA models too, but I chose to stick to one style and not go daft. That said I do keep loking at EM4 as I am sure one of the future soldiers will make a good Friday proxy......

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Great paintjobs, but the sculpting style (I love the old Citadel stuff, mind you) makes the G.I.s look more than a little "smurfy". ;)

Do you have any plans for Vehicles, except for the Drill Tank already featured?

And the satellite dish is a grand little piece of work.

Half naked little blue men do tend to suffer from the smurf factor, so would that make Venus Smurfette  ???

ATM I am working on a die cast Shado to use as a generic tracked truck. It is mostly unchanged I just needed to add new tracks to it as they were destroyed when I got it. I am planning on using a Pig Iron Iron Side tank as a carter class Souther tank as it looks kind of close enough from the one picture there seems to be of one being blown up by a blackmare. I am also pondering tackling kit bashing a 1:35 challenger kit into a blackmare down the line. But the vehicles are way down the line as I want to get more little men (and ladies) painted first.

I was lucky in the nort front, scavenging eBay,  a really lucky bring and buy find and having a few mates who bought the stuff first time round and would part with it really bumped the numbers up.  The Souther troopers on the other hand have been a real pain to get  but I have finally  got enough for a good sized squad  :D

But you really don't need so many Southers, do you? Just a few for Rogue to save. The rest are Norts to be gunned down!  >:D
