Ebob Opel Blitz
« on: August 19, 2007, 09:39:03 AM »
I've finally got around to finishing off one of the Ebob Opel Blitz's that has been lurking on my paint station for several years! This one is for a North African/Cairo setting and I've finished and varnished the cab, but not the back tray yet. Mind you I kinda like it sans tray...looks like an abandoned junker - street arabs have stolen the wooden tray for firewood.

The windows were done with blister plastic, unfortunately I glued them in before varnishing and of course the matt varnish I used really fogged them up nicely (kind of annoying but not bad enough to require any re-work). Maybe there's a dusky adventuress breathing deeply in there or something?

I really can't recommend the Ebob Opel enough, it's a fine automobile for Pulp gamers and goes together very nicely. The only criticism I have with it is that it lacks a steering wheel inside the cab, not that you'd be able to see that in mine!

Next vehicle off the block (hopefully before 2007 closes) is at least one 1/56th Sdkfz-222 armored car from Bolt Action. Then I can stage a lovely .45 Adventure scenario with the heroes fleeing through Cairo with Germans in hot pursuit!

Very nicely done

I dont think the fogging of the windows detracts from it at all.

I can see conversion potential for this to use in my Mad Max games too  :)

Heh, the dirty window is directly 'inspired' by Ebob's painted demo Opels on his site! It's just a dusting of spray paint from a good distance.

It would work nicely for Mad Max style mayhem. It is 1/56th scale though, but you can still get four to five based 28mm scale Pulp figures in the back tray (I base my figures on GW round bases).

I forgot to mention the number plate is a nod to George Lucas (of the Lucas/Spielberg partnership that bought us the Indiana Jones movies). In arabic it's meant to read '11380'.

Very nice!  There's an identical unbuilt Opel Blitz sitting on my table which I've been wanting to do in Afrika colours!  You've given me some inspiration!

Here is my take on the ebob Blitz:

I can only agree; a very nice vehicle.
The windows of my DAK Blitz are of course polished with German efficiency to an absolute mirror like gloss.

Interesting enough I thought also about fogging the windows (also done with the clear blister plastic).

I wholeheartedly agree with Grimm - the weathering and in particular the dusty windows are excellent.
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Agis, nice Opel. I have to admit that I'm jealous yours has a driver, clutching a steering wheel even!

Your Artizan Germans look postively keen to keep the body work in good condition too. I particularly like the chap extreme right with his 'Adolf'.

Who's the kneeling radio man? He's from another line? Or did I miss him in the Artizan collection?

Whoahh, you got keen eyes, keen eyes...
The kneeling guy is from BAM. I mixed Artizan, Crusader and BAM on this photo.
