Looking for a figure
« on: October 10, 2010, 05:13:39 AM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

I had my eye on a 28mm ninja holding a katana and a pistol but have lost the site.

It is neither:
Reaper's Cobra Ninja
Citadel's Oriental Heroes - OH1 Ninja - "Tong"

Thanks
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

That sounds like a fairly easy conversion. Buy a gun with integrated hand from BAM or Victory and then you have several great sculpts to choose from. Perry would be my favourite.

Could it be this one (upper right) from Blue Moon Manufacturing

Edit; Oups... no Katana. Sorry ;D
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Maybe you meant the one made by WhiteKnight?

No Comsquare, I've seen that too.

I think I may just abandon the search and convert some using Perry's as suggested by traveller and created by WhiteKnight

but have lost the site.

Happens to me all the time. At one point I started recording minis/sets of minis that I wanted in an excel workbook, with one worksheet for each  manufacturer, but I gave up on putting everything into it, as I realized that I'd planned purchases for about a year's salary  ::)

I still use it to keep a record of which minis I have bought, though, so that I avoid ordrering something that I already have, but have forgotten I have...

My point:

It helps me a lot to make entries of stuff that I need for a current project when browsing around for possible minis - even if I don't buy them all, I have the entry for future reference.

So I'd recommend to anyone to make such a list, but instead of dividing them by manufacturer, I would recommend making 'genre/setting/period/type' lists instead, of course with a note of the manufacturer. At some point I think I'll reorganize mine that way, simply because it's more convenient - you more often need a 'Gangster', 'British Colonial', or 'VSF Prussian' than you need a mini from a specific manufacturer. And if you have a worksheet with all the 'Ninjas' you've seen listed, with a note of the manufacturer, and perhaps even a link to th ewebsite, you can very quickly find a specific mini.  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

HAHA! Bingo! Thanks Bandit. Page bookmarked...lol

Argonor, your idea makes a ton of sense. I used to do that for terrain and just bookmark interesting sites for minis but your idea definitely seems easier

If you can't find it at LAF, it doesn't exist  lol

Well, there's a little more work involved, but it saves a lot of browsing the web  :)
