It hardly needed Malifaux or Deadlands to inspire an "Eastern-martial-artist-exile-to-the-wild-west". One need look no farther than the 1970s television series Kung Fu, among other things.

The book Cloud Of Sparrows by Takashi Matsuoka has the opposite happen. Among other plotlines involving samurai, Japanese feudal politics, ninjas and shit; it features a bitter, emotionally-scarred gunslinger from the Old West who travels to Japan in a quest for revenge.


I guess I'm just not in with what the cool kids like any more, as that film looks like a right load of old crap to me.  lol

I enjoyed it a lot. There was a sequel called "Autumn Bridge" but I have never got around to buying it.
