Chaos In Carpathia Building Interiors
« on: October 15, 2010, 10:19:08 PM »
I've begun creating off-table interiors for my Gothic Horror buildings. The entire walk-through with photos is here: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2010/10/workbench-update-example-of-off-table.html

Excellent points about interiors being an undiscovered country as far as adding to the richness of a game.

The hut is really quite dear, but it's surprising how useful a simple Heroquest table can be. High marks for ingenuity and adaptability!

Record keeping might be a problem ( with someone like me with the memory of a goldfish) but it makes terrain building easier as you don't have to keep taking the roof of a building. Multi-story buildings would benefit from this method  especially if the players are splt over different floors.
I used to use a similar method with crew "below" decks for pirate boarding actions etc.
Excellent stuff, I may have to "borrow" this idea for some of my VSF buildings......

Thanks for the replies gents. I completed the cellar yesterday and I've made a start on mass painting the rest of the interiors tonight.

As to how well they work or what issues may arise, I'll report back when the time comes. I don't see record-keeping being an issue though, as there won't be any. All of the interiors will be laid out in a logical order next to the main (i.e. outdoor) playing surface. Furthermore, as CinC uses card-based activation, there's no worry of forgetting about models who are off-table.

The stars must be right :) . I was just thinking of something similar for CoC/Pulp/Horror gaming purposes, and this gives an excellent overview of the possibilities...

Tnx for posting, Jet. Will be keeping an eye on the blog!

Very nice, simple and elegant.
I usually build the interiors to my buildings but have a huge multistory affair that I don't relish having to lift levels off so I'm doing something similar.
I like the rules you came up with...let us know of the playtest results.

Thx
