The conversation on Saturday night Paul was about something a wee bit different from this. This is just a trial. I'm still not sure i can do other thing. I would need gamer mac and oldskool rebel's help again. I might post my ideas at a later date and see if anybody help.

Anyway i got a wee bit down again last night...

...now with added teeth. The bits on the side is where I plan to attach some sort of fin.

This my thinking with the weapon situation. I couldn't think how to make a decent torpedo, so I'm thinking of some sort of spear/harpoon. Steam powered of course!! Attached to the side by an arm.

I think I prefer the spear option as it just seems easier to travel through water than the others.

I'm not quite sure what I done last time other than being the good looking one of the trio  ::) But still I'm up for it.

I agree with Jimbibbly, the spear definitely looks the better option.

Cheers

How about a spar torpedo hanging over the bow like an angler fish ?

I put up a piccie as notice of a toy that had gone on end-of-summer sale in the US;

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=21987.0

with the warning 'Don't tell me you look forward to updates of my work' or something like that.

Difference between Andym and myself: he has nothing interesting at the moment, but must find or make something, where as I am surrounded by interesting things, and just as I start one...

In the case of the fish, I bought several in a couple of designs, really wanted to try to get the 'eyes', to be painted as viewing ports, above water. Of course, it sticks preternaturally high, and everybody laughed. I got cold feet, and there it sits. I despise my wimpy nature; down deep, I know it could be awesome.

That said, had an intact, loaded with batteries, few in the small pool at the motel last but one con I attended, and the 5 yr old grandchildren LOVED swimming around with paranhas and  anglerfish. It's interesting having one or two bearing down on you.  lol

I included the quote above as the anglerfish in the first link has it's eyes sufficiently high to make it a much better waterline candidate. Not that the owners would like to think of it sawn to pieces. ;->=

As for the other quote, whether explosive or electric trident, I assumed spar as well.

The beast

Your post only shows the toy in the box. Have you got any pictures of what you achieved? That could be a cool sub with some work.

Got some work done yesterday.

Also thought about the spar torpedo. I like the idea and I now quite like the idea of more an angler fish look. Here is the two options I'm thinking about...

Spar torpedo or light?

Looking great so far :-* :-* :-*
How do the crew get in?
Go with the spar torp, give the sub a bit of bite :D

Short of buying one that's all I've got in my bits box that's good enough for a propeller. I was considering just putting a disc of clear plastic, that would be bigger than that small prop, to simulate a moving one.

Colin
I've still got a conning tower to build with a hatch. Thanks for the donation of the sailors by the way. I may have to build some sort of sub/landing craft so I can use them in a game...hmmmm...

I have to say I prefer the more bend shape of the light one.

If you want to go with the swooping shape of the angler fish's lure but still have it as an offensive weapon, how about having a mine there instead of a torpedo? Could even be a magnetic one so it could be attached and then abandoned to explode.
