In Shocking Tales Rogue Threshold Character don’t get any free skills like the agents in the main rule book or extra gear, so I would think they are lurkers.

Yup. They are Lurkers and may use the Special Branch Prototypes (at the listed BP/RP...). They may not use the Extra Gear on page 47 of the main rulebook...that's only for the good guys.

I tried to download the rules from the link on page 1 but haven't been able to do so.  It come up as 'interrupted' which I've never seen before.  I browsed over to the web site and tried it from the resources section there too and got the same message.  I'd love to take a look at the rules, now that I've started on my second batch of cultists.

Thanks for pointing that out - the links have been corrected!  When I migrated hosts a while back, it completely slipped my mind that the Kulten Beta was (for reasons I cannot recall) hosted on the old online store server.  Sorry for the mix-up.

Working feverishly to get the core of the book completed...it's at least double the size of the demo package at this point. Very excited about it, just want to make sure that the game is 'perfect' before I commit to a timeline...

Awesome!  I cant wait, as the couple of pages of playtesting notes and suggestions I sent in probably suggested  :D

I am now building my second Cult so my Lad and I can do battle in the garage!  The souls of the girls of the house are, after all, up for grabs  8)

And after seeing Shocking Tales #3 my first Cult is now in dire need of a guy with a chainsaw!

Great news, it is hard to wait for this one!

I'll take this chance and ask a question about the beta rules;
In he beginnin of the rulebook it says that you are free to incorporte the extra stuff in your cult from the main rule bool and Strange Tales expansions, I want to ask if this applies to extra gear and skills as well?

For example, in the VUK rulebook there is no AP skill, can i add this skill from the main rulebook?
Likewise, the extra gear listed in the main rulebook, like a detonator or bolas, can they be added to my cult?

As a request it would be great if everything useable was listed in the final finished VUK rulebook so that there is no need to have all the other books.

While there will be more (new) skills in the final book, all the skills that you don't see in there were removed for reasons of game balance.  If your group agrees to put them back in though, feel free to do so!  Same goes for special gear, as each cult will have it's own list of unique weapons and equipment.

Kulten will be a standalone game, so there'll be no need to own any of the Strange Aeons books in order to play it.  Everything you need will be contained in the Kulten rulebook, which is turning into quite the tome.
