Making a Final Fantasy.
« on: November 05, 2010, 09:56:09 PM »
Hello all. I'm currently interested in creating a party of mages based on the final fantasy background - not necessarily wargaming, true, but I do plan to use them for Song of Blades and Heroes, and Fantasy Goalsystem.

Currently the Black Mage is the easiest - the apprentice mage from Heresy Miniatures with the lich head and witch hat - the similarity is nicely clear.

However, I'm slightly stumped for the Red, White, Green, Blue and Time Mages. In order, here's artwork representing what they generally look like - note, only the clothing is truly important. Anything like bunny ears on the Green Mage should be ignored for example. All my planned Mages will be human/elven.

Red Mage

White Mage

Green Mage

Blue Mage

Time Mage

Aside from the Black Mage, my only other inklings so far are maybe this guy for the Time mage -

and this one for the Green -

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Can't point you to a specific one, but check out Magnificent Egos now produced by Valiant for the red mage. They seem to have a few similar guys running around.

Jibbery style oinkery which don't make no damn sense.

Is the bottom figure from Red Box?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

First thing I thought of when I saw the red mage was a musketeer!

Top one is Sister Angelique from the Anima Tactics Light Starter the bottom are Lady Aiyana and Holt, mercenaries from Privateer Press Warmachine. Although you could use Sebastian (from the first post) as a White Mage with a head swap and a quick bit of filing on the shoulders...

I have always wanted to do something like this but have had trouble matching up the figures scale wise.

Cheers for the suggestions everyone - I actually have the Anima Tactics saint figure, so that's pretty handy. Hadn't thought of her at all.

So it looks like just the Red and Blue mages to work towards then.

Reaper has a couple of Musketeers in their line that might serve for Red Mages (you would need to swap out their pistols and maybe make them a little frillier...:

I would swear there's another, better match soemwhere in the Reaper line, but I'm having a hard time finding it at the moment. Some of their various swashbuckling Pirates might also serve your turn as Red Mages.

This lady might also make a pretty good Green Mage with her sword swapped out for a staff:
