French Village 1944
« on: November 07, 2010, 05:42:57 AM »
For more than 30 years I have been painting 15mm miniatures from many periods.  During that time my collection has grown to more than 23,000 15mm figures.  To many the size of my collection is particularly odd given the fact that I have never gamed with them.  I display them (just for vanity purposes) at my website War In 15MM.  I am particularly happy with my French village in the hedgerow country of Normandy.  I hope you'll take a look at it a www.warin15mm.com/The-Bocage--44.html.  You can see all my galleries at www.warin15mm.com.  Hope you enjoy them.

It's an awe inspiring collection. There's a few people who don't actually game with their figures, their enjoyment is wholly in the creation and painting. Thank you for sharing, I'll peruse the full collection at my leisure.  :)

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Sangennaru, I believe the village has 34 buildings.  Most of the buildings are by a company called Landmark, and they are from their Normandy buildings.  I understand that they were out of production for a time, but I have recently seen a report on The Miniatures Page that they are back in business and from what I have seen they have fixed the problems that existed when I bought them.  That problem was that they were about a quarter inch too short and the bottom of the doors had not been part of the original casting.  I added a quarter inch of plastic to the bottoms on mine and sculpted the missing door but it was a lot of work.  If you look closely at my pictures you can see a plane foundation on most of the buildings.  That's the plastic I added for height.  The reissue doesn't seem to have that problem; the doors look fine.  The Landmark buildings come nicely painted though I repainted mine because of the repair problem I spoke of.  Three of the 34 buildings are from the Peter Pig Normandy range, and six of the buildings are by a company called Fire Base Miniatures.  I believe the rights to those buildings are now owned by Brookhurst Hobbies, but they are not producing them at this time.  Thanks for the kind words about the collection.  Richard

WOW. Fantastic blog Richard. I have spent quite a long time looking at your hobby photos. And you don't game - amazing. You have a great amount of detail in 15mm, I had to keep reminding myself of the scale (I am mainly a 28mm guy myself).

Good luck in the retirement (you look too young to retire) and keep us posted - please.

Paul.

Paul, thanks for the kind words about the galleries and not looking old enough for retirement.  I just posted a new gallery of my 15mm Napoleonics.  If you didn't see them, hope you'll take a look.  Once again, its www.warin15mm.com and click Napoleonic Gallery.  Richard
