Free skirmish rules
« on: November 11, 2010, 04:16:07 PM »
I have translated (not very well) in English "Argad!" my 28 mm skirmish rules.

I first wrote and published these game rules in 1996 and I am now updating them, it is in permanent evolution.

It is a simple system based on 6-sided dice but many tactical modifiers add flavour to the game. Movements are simultaneous, we call that " good-humoured simultaneity".

Some people like it because it is simple and fast.
Some people dislike it because it looks too simple and they don't like simultaneity, but even they often accept that it can be an interesting ruleset for the initiation of newcomers.

Do not play it for championships, or with competition-minded players, or on a a bare plain. It needs a large battlefield with plenty of obstacles, a good-humored team, and some role-playing mind.

Download is free.  The documents now available are the Basic Rules, the tables for the 17th-18th C. and pirates period, and  the tables for the Dark Ages (5th-10th C.) period.

Thanks guys  8)

These rules were first written for the Middle Ages period but we are now expanding them. And for the pirates period I'll soon add a table for cannon firing (original rules included medieval cannons but not satisfactory for later periods).

The rules still lack many complements but you can add things, or modify what you want, according to your own scenarios.

We even played some Back of Beyond games with these rules (although the tables for modern combat are still not perfect, but I am confident).

And as I wrote in my other post, we try to be as historically accurate as possible but it is intended for fun, not competition.
