Early War Germans
« on: November 10, 2010, 02:22:09 PM »
Folks,

Hopefully a quick one, I can find lots of references to painting late war Germans, but few detailing early war Germans.

I bought a regiment of Renegade Early War Germans at SELWG and have been in a painting slump which now appear to be coming to an end.  I've got the Ospreys but wondered what GW or Vallejo paints people found work best for them?

Many Thanks, Goat.

What Ho Goaty!

I'm assuming you mean early WW2, but knowing you have both those and WWI I might be wrong - first time for everything, etc.  lol

There's a very complete guide to early WW2 Germans over @ http://martelloint.informe.com/forum/future-projects-f19/tutorial-painting-wwii-german-army-minis-t192.html which covers infantry from '36-42 and it has a pile of references too.

Expect Slug to make some suggestions too, I know your post piqued his interest but he can't type as fast as me.

pip-pip!

Phil old boy,

WW1, the Kaisers hordes sweeping through brave little Belgium intent on spreading Kultur throughout Europe, Empires tremble etc. etc.

Well 24 Picklehaube wearing Miniatures, Empires probably won't tremble but it's the thought that counts...

You down at the RBL bash in Rammers on Sunday?

Best as always, Goat

Well in that case I don't have a clue, plus I'm not sure slug's suggestion count either.

I’ve got some uhlans in the painting queue… I would like some guidelines too (the basic uniform colors being the same… I think)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I haven't painted any WWI German yet (but I hope to one day soon), but this is the website I use to reference when I have painted Brits before:
