The Mummy, lots of scenery pics
« on: November 15, 2010, 04:19:15 PM »
Over the last three or four weeks, I've been working on a new game for our group The Mummy.  It will have a better title when it's closer to done.  The plan is to have a campaign of Mummy adventures during 2011.

Finally I've got something to show so here is Hamunaptra, City of the Dead.

An overview of the ruins:

Diving in to the Pyramid:

I'll be doing some new Mummies before we get gaming on this lot.

All the scenery bits are based on old CDs, here is most of them:

I added a couple more after this shot was taken.

And here to stop the cultists and others from releasing The Mummy, the Medjai:

Finally for now, the first stand of the Egyptologist's camp, there is another stand of supplies that needs painting and I've got to build a couple of tents to finish the campsite off.

Most of the scenery is cast from plaster, using Hirst Arts Molds, the Medjai are from Artizan and The Mummy is from Foundry.  Most of the large statues were picked up from a charity shop.

I'll update this thread with progress as I get more of the scenery and minis finished, and some game reports once we get playing.

Really nice looking.  I was struck by the fact that you got most of your Egyptian artifacts from a charity shop.  I got most of mine from the fish tank section of a pet store that was going out of business.  Whatever works and yours does.

That's a very good looking table so far!

The HA blocks are a lot of fun to build with, our communal game club purchased molds have created some very nice stuff for us. (about eight of us clubbed together and bought five or six molds)

Nice one Gav, that looks aces.  8) I fancied making something similar myself but didn't get quite this far with mine.

I think you might need a bigger board though, if you're going to keep adding to the scenery pile.  ;)

Cheers everyone, my cunning plan is to post progress here to make sure I stay motivated and get it finished.

Here is a quick work in progress shot of the rest of the campsite.

I was struck by the fact that you got most of your Egyptian artifacts from a charity shop.  I got most of mine from the fish tank section of a pet store that was going out of business.

Most of our jungle came from a pet shop, it's amazing all the stuff you can find in those places.

The HA blocks are a lot of fun to build with, our communal game club purchased molds have created some very nice stuff for us. (about eight of us clubbed together and bought five or six molds)

We're up to nine in our collection now, it's fiendishly addictive that molds habbit.

Who's been a busy boy then? An impressive amount there, looking forward to seeing this next year sometime in october ;)

I'm not sure if this lot will be the game for October, BLAM inspired the whole crew so everyone is off putting different games together.  We'll see which one works out best and bring that one.  :)

I think you might need a bigger board though, if you're going to keep adding to the scenery pile.  ;)

In those pictures we have the 2' board for .45 Adventure and the 3' for bigger battles.  I do have a plan for a 4' board, but we start to get space issues with too many players and a board that big in my flat.

Hi Rev, nice table.
I think it looks too much the same colour. Mabe you can break it up a bit if the terrain pieces are of a different color.
cheers

Brilliant Gav. I think the almost monochrome effect is what makes it work so well. Very nicely done  :)
