Brit Khaki - NWF/Boer era ?
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:00:18 AM »
I`ve found treads/articles on painting Pahtans, priming, basing and on painting horses.

But none on the Brit Khakis and gear.

For the Board members that use Vallejo (that the brand I`ve found locally) - what do you use to paint late 1890ish Brits ??

I`m glady taking in general advice on a basic colour setup and brush sizes for 28MM as well, starting up from scratch.

My earlier experiences are with the Humbrol Enamel, doing some rather large AD&D figures and 1:35 military models/figures and none experiences newer than 20-25 years... :)
Best regards

Harry

I am actually looking for a simple solution to the same problem. I was checking out the possibility of the Reaper Master Series khaki triad as a good no-braner possibility.

Of course a "stock" response would be that there was so much variation due to dying techniques that you can do whatever you want, but I would still like some recommendations as I have never really found a combo that works satisfactorily. I actually like the hue of the GW Kommado Khaki, but the problem remains how to achieve a shadow and hilite that works well.

Has anyone tried the Reaper set?

I'm a big fan of Howard Hues "British Khaki".  It's more yellow than most, but a very satisfying color (to me, anyway).

Anyone with an opinion if these Vallejos are a suitable set for painting Brits in Khaki:

#1 White

#3 Pale Flesh

#39 Plague Brown

#40 Leather

#45 Charred Brown

#51 Black

#54 Gunmetal

#55 Polished Gold

#61 Khaki

#63 Desert Yellow ?
