HMS FOX 1914
« on: November 15, 2010, 06:26:46 PM »
Hi  :)
I am looking for plans or good pictures for the ship HMS FOX
The seven surviving members of the Astraea class of light cruisers performed valuable service during the First World War. HMS Astraea, HMS Charydis and HMS Fox served on the front line, with both Astraea and Fox remaining in service on overseas stations to the end of the war.

Plus HMS Helmuth
General characteristics
Type:   Armed tug
Armament:   1 x 3-pdr gun

Or any good books on these Ship?
Any help would be Greet
Thanks
David

I havn`t got the hang of posting links yet, but go to worldnavalships.com/astrea_class.htm & there are four pictures of HMS Fox there & one with the ship looking a bit more worn in the book The Battle for Tanga 1914 by Ross Anderson. Hope this is a start.

Actually Wiki has a reasonable plan view taken from a contemporay Brassey's Naval Annual.

Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

If you are talking about the reprinted  1919 edition of Janes' Fighting Ships then you will be disappointed. You won't get much in the way of photos or plans but perhaps you have a specific Jane's publication in mind.

I make it more like 5 foot 9 inches long, actually. (humans are usually under 2m in height, remember)

98m = 321ft, 321ft =3852in divided by 56 (for 1/56 scale) = 69 inches = 5 foot 9 inches. Big boat!

You and Akula can have giant-boat duels. I think he's got a destroyer, carrier and battlecruiser already built!

Janes warships of world war 1 has a photo(side view) of Astraea and Conways All the worlds warships1860-1905 also has a line drawing of the side so they won't be much help for a model in 28mm,have you tried a gooogle image search?
