Actually, on a completely different note (but still Sharpe) I think some of the Eureka Tyroleans would do nicely as Spanish guerilleros, wouldn't you say?

Although, they do have a peculiar uniform, it would be a matter of painting more muted, earthy colours, and chopping many of those beautiful feathers off...

What do you think? A mix of hats would be sufficient I think.

The Tyroleans are great but they have a certain germanic look to them.
You know the Perrys have some superb spanish guerilla in the carlist war range?

Sharpe as I may be so bold to suggest was based on Harry Smith  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Harry_Smith,_1st_Baronet  An hero of mine and as often the case more interesting than their fictional rivals.

I did not! Thanks for the tip. Here's a picture for the uninitiated:

Interesting find. There are many pockets of history that go unnoticed for the most part... luckily they end up in footnotes from books from the Cornwells and Frasers of this world. Thanks for the link!

Chosen man? Chosen man? Well, I didn't choose ya.

Just got back from a 3-day work weekend. Managed to do this and some painting the night before I left.

GS hat and arm strap. What do you think? Looking alright? The photo makes his head look a bit funny...

2) IIRC Sharpe's boots and pants are meant to be taken from a rider's (dragoon's?) kit. Nothing said about Sharpe wearing them all the time.

Well, he was quite the ladies man  ;D  lol  lol

I think that looks great  8)

Harper would pose a slight problem, would you go for books or films as in the books he's HUGE but in the films he's actually shorter than Sean.

Quite like the chosen man. Excellent stuff, and by stuff I mean green stuff. The hat is well executed.

Yeah this is all taken from my impressions of the TV show, very little from actual history (but that is developing as I get more involved in the project) and I have the books on my list to read... I thought I'd wait until Dad got through them as they were a present for him lol

I have been pondering how exactly to do Harper... and have come up with nothing convincing yet! I'll leave him until last. My next Chosen Man will be based off the show's Isaiah Tongue: just a guy with a bandana, and some patched up pants.

The GW Mordhiem Empire head with the bandana would work well although thinking on it, it might be a bit big for what you want.

I actually have one right in front of me! :) But, I'll be using a Wargames Factory Celt head as the basis.

It's a good reference for sculpting I guess. Might even get some done tonight.

Simple, but cleverly executed.

Looks really good.
