8th Doctor Mini
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:28:59 PM »
I didn't much like the 8th Doctor.  Didn't strike me as someone who'd be involved in the Time War.  I saw this Reaper figure, and thought it would make a okay Doctor figure with a weapon swap.  Then is struck me that maybe the Doctor did use a gun during the Time war.  Either way, it would be an interesting conversion.

Oops, wrong forum.  Although the Time War is pretty weird.  Could a Mod move this to Future Wars please?

Here you go! Quite an interesting figure. Don't see an immediate use to it, but I'll save the pic as a reminder.

Thanks for the assist!  Most of the folks who see my 'sonic' pen think it's a M.I.B. nerulalizer.  So I figured one could be painted up as a sonic screwdriver pretty easily.

Big Finish are giving the 8th Doctor a new costume...

I quiet like that... still Jules Verne-ish, with a kind of evolution into the 9th Doctor...

There was a story a few months back that Big Finish had finally run out of promotional photos from the 1996 TV movie.  Presumably this is the response.

No this was a custom-made part costume by WETA given to McGann at a convention in Auckland by the con organiser, so while the BBC have okayed it, it's not from them or Big Finish. That said, yes BF have had to be more imaginative with their McGann shots - the cover for Death in Blackpool is partially a screencap from the TV Movie, for example.

The first pics broke just as I was finishing my painting of the BTD Eighth Doctor figure (more Leo Sayer than Paul McGann, but hey ho). Given the bodged detail on their version I wouldn't say no to an independent releasing an alternative though. 'Byron Marwood - Vernean chrononaut', perhaps?
