Introducing myself and my Wooden Warriors
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:04:23 PM »
Introducing myself so I don't get my profile removed... :D

I've seen references to this forum before and followed a couple of links. Usually great stuff, so this time I decided to join.

I'm interested in a number of periods but focus on Ancients, AWI, Napoleonics, and WW II (land) at the moment. As for scales: the Ancients are in 15mm for armies and 28mm for skirmish; the AWI are in 15mm for armies and skirmish; 15mm for skirmish and 6mm or 42mm* for Napoleonic armies; and 15mm for armies and 28mm for skirmish in WW II.

* I started in 6mm for Napoleonic armies, but am still trying to find the right rules for that scale. For the 42mm armies, well see below.

I like painting and have painted more than I have gamed (i.e. I have some painted figures that have gone unused so far) and it is even worse for buying painted figures and not using them. Fortunately, I do not have piles of unpainted lead and it is diminishing at a faster rate than ever. (I know, that makes me a strange gamer.)

Lately I have started adding to the modeling side by making my own figures out of wood, very much in the old wooden toy soldier style. You can find my stuff on my Wooden Warriors blog (http://wooden-warriors.blogspot.com) on in my Photobucket albums (http://s756.photobucket.com/albums/xx202/dhurtt/Wooden%20Warriors/).

Also forgot to mention that there are others like me who build their own soldiers, primarily out of wood, on the Yahoo forum Wargaming on a Budget (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/wargaming_on_a_budget/). Maybe because this is Lead Adventures, this is not appropriate material though.  lol

Welcome to the Forum, Dale. And may I say, those are some mighty fine looking figures. Love toy soldiers, and those have a very appropriate look:)

VERY COOL & DIFFERENT STUFF! It's always nice to see a Guy who marches to his own drummer. The Little Wooden Warriors remind me of a fellow who made is minis out of clothes pins. SO...WELCOME ABOARD...have FUN!

Although this is The Lead Adventure Forum, I have seen other mediums covered here often. Your little wooden warrior look really great. Out my way there is a group of gamers I have known for years that have a set of rules for toy soldiers they play often. I have been planning a set of mini nutcrackers to build an army of to play with them.
