Suggestions for Scratch building the Genesis Ark?
« on: November 26, 2010, 08:49:21 PM »
Has anyone got any suggestions for scratchbuilding the Genesis Ark:

Completely at a loss, hope my fellow Who fans and the scratchbuilders/converters of LAF have some ideas.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

You could start with the knob that goes on top of a lamp to hold on the shade - you could find a good starting shape there, and then build out the framework.  You could also build the framework out of styrene and then fill in the round bits with putty.

Could you get a rawle plug (is that what they're called? the things you stick in a hole in the wall to put a screw into) wide enough to look about right at scale, and then add the side shafts on?

Another thing that might work for the general shape would be a chess piece.  As there are a lot of variety in design and size for sets, I'll bet you can find one that would have some good starting base structures.  This option might be a little expensive/wasteful if you just need/use one piece.
