I like the idea. Is promotes the very stuff that makes this place great.

One of the reasons for me being on this forum is the amazing turnaround of stellar work. That's why this place never gets old. Call it Teutonic Efficiency, Oz Can-Do or Yankee Go-geddum, I don't have it. All I have is Swedish OneDayI'llShowThemAll. It doesn't matter, since I like to be inspired by that other stuff.

Awwww, don´t feel sad. A lot of nice stuff comes out of Sweden. ;) And you´ve got great figure-painters, too... may just be that Viking berzerker rage doesn´t work too well with figure painting...

You mean I'm not supposed to be stabbing the miniatures with the brush? That explains a lot

Depends... if you´re going for stippling, NOT stabbing the minis would be awkward, indeed...

I apply paint with my fingers: tumb for base coat, pinky for eye-whites.

I was referring to other *nice stuff*...  You know, superb chocolate, Knäckebrot, natural blondes, in no specific order... alright, I´ll stop there. *nudge nudge wink wink*

On grim & trve norsk painters, I was thinking of that one guy who used to paint for GW in the mid-1990s. Very, very nice miniatures, without all that fancy balderdash that is all the rage nowadays.

I had no idea and apologize profusely. Exports like that on top of hit makers for Brittney Spears and Back Street Boys is really inexcusable. ;-)

I'm fairly sure there's at least one top-level sculptor who's Swedish, or at least has a very Swedish-sounding name. Or maybe I have him confused with Chris's painter, because the guy I'm thinking of also worked/works for GW.

Also, David of Bronze Age Miniatures is half-Swedish. Very congenial chap, and one of my favourite sculptors besides.

But painters... I can't really think of any.

Ah!!

Here in American, folks from the 'south' cringe at being called a Yankee, as that is a term they reserve for us Northern folk.

I on the other hand, love it!

 how  you Yankees  called  the southmen ``Rednecks`` ?

We in germany called the south germany ´´Schluchten scheißer `` and they all speak a strange dialect

us call the souther boys ``Fischköpfe`` what neans ``Fish head `` I think it comes from the ``Innsmouthlook``.

Redneck is a derogatory term and would likely cause hard feelings or worse if you called a southern person that.  Also a “Redneck” is more someone from a very rural area with a very rural and somewhat backwards worldview and the term could easily apply to some northerners and westerners.  Yankee isn’t exactly a derogatory term although some southern folks use it that way.  Being from Missouri I don’t consider myself a southerner the way someone from Georgia or Mississippi might but I ain’t no Yankee either.  In the states a Yankee is someone from a state that was part of the Union during the Civil War in particular states in the northeast.  Most of the true animosity from the Civil War is long dead but there are still significant cultural differences between the northern, southern, and western states and the border states are still pretty mixed culturally so when someone from the south or a southern part of a border state get’s a little annoyed at being called a Yankee it’s more that we don’t identify ourselves that way and not so much that we are on the brink of another civil war or anything or because we hate northerners.  They are just different .
