My Chaos Dwarf Adventure Updated ***July 11-11***
« on: December 08, 2010, 08:05:40 PM »
Hello all!

I'm a new face around here and thought that I would break the ice by sharing some work I'm doing on some of the classic Chaos Dwarfs...namely the MM90 range from Marauder Miniatures that was produced in the Late 80s.  IMO these are the best Chaos Dwarf sculpts out there...and indeed some of my favorite WFB figures of all time.  Here is the original catalog picture of the whole batch:

I'm currently still attempting to finish assembling copies of all 24...only 3 left to go!  But I haven't let that stop me from starting to paint the ones I have.  So...without further ado...here are the first 7 in order of painting:

And here is a group picture of them after I completed their bases:

Now I just have to get their shields done!

Cheers!

Ooh yes, fantastic. Definately the best complete range of chaos stunties (although I do have a love of some of the early Perry ones too) but I am also a little biased. Perhaps some modern companies should take note?

If you are short of a couple of original shields try chatting to White Knight, he may be able to assist.

Which three are you missing?

I must have acquired a blister of these back in the day somehow - a few familiar faces like the hairy chap and the Turkish looking fellow near the top.  :)

Sadly they are now lost in the mists of time apart from the crossbow armed one which I got somewhere around £15 for on ebay - minus his crossbow and sporting a very shoddy paint job!   :D

A great range and lovely paint jobs too - just looking forward to painting up the Bederken Dwergs from Dave King's new line myself - a rather nice birthday pressie I got recently - very 80s (in a good way) in style too although a bit more gribbly!

If anyone does have number 3 (the pointy hat guy) in a double and would like to trade I'd love to get hold of it!

Very nice by the way.

:-* :-* :-* - Really love these guys, really, really love them. I love the look of the Old School Miniatures, there so comic in a way, but brilliant at the same time, if that makes sense? The first one has to be my favourite, the paint job is superb, these miniatures really blew me away, superb stuff!

Hey there Blue, fancy seeing you here... lol (Blind Berzerker here btw...)

Great work on your MM90's; they're great! Hopefully you'll be able to finish the entire range. You actually make me want to get them as well, on top of my Big Hats.

Oh the 'Wants' lists only get longer and longer.. ::)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Very nice and very servicable PJ's I'd just suggest a little wash and highlight here and there, take a bit of the flatness away.

I too have a soft spot for the little chaos stunty buggers meself, around 35 Citadel and Marauder chaos dwarfs.

Nice

Very nice!

Like many other folk, I think the Marauder Chaos Dwarves are an excellent line to collect (although I also like the original Perry Bros. line of pre-Big Hat Citadel Chaos Dwarves as well). I also agree that the recent Bederken Dwergs are worthy successors.

Now those are proper Chaos stunties. I've been looking for them for ages around here, no luck. Good on you for finding them, and doing such great paintjobs!

If I ever get to do a Fantasy range, there are going to -have- to be Chaos stunties of some sort.

Thanks all... ;)

And I should say that I fully agree that some of the Perry bros Citadel sculpts rank right up there with the Marauder in character... in fact to field these as a unit I will incorporate several of the ones that fit stylistically.

Here is a picture of the "unit" with a citadel xbow converted to a drummer, and Ori Pointed Beard (in Red) who fits quite well with the MM90s

Cheers,

Cracking stuff Blue, really nice paint jobs! Vibrant, colourful and very old school!

Hope to see more soon. Post more pics of your minis too, I assume these aren't your first paintjobs. =)
