Finally!

Brigade's been talking about having Northstar sell for months.

Bollocks... not long sent off a large order to Brigade as well.  :-[

I'll accept that this is good news overall though... might not when the post office bill for their 'handling' comes though  :?

*Edit* - Theoretically it should actually work out similar cost wise, so I'm whinging about nothing really.

Same here, not that I regret it.

I dearly love the AC47 idea, but I have no room for it.

Knee jerk reaction mate, it shouldn't make much difference, I just resent paying the P.O. their £8 for me to go and collect it from them. Tax is tax and I'm sure Northstar prices will include the cost to bring them in.

As for space... bunk beds for the wife and kids or sell one of them. I helped pay for one of my daughters to get married so I could have her room... she's only 5*  lol

*may not be entirely true.

I think this depends on shipping and customs as well. I think each buyer will need to evaluate based on their own situation and make the best choice.

It really depends on how many you buy too. Lon's shipping deal for international is $15 ($10 atm) for orders over $50... when it arrives in the UK the post office slap an £8 handling charge, plus VAT at 17.5% if the order is over £18 (iirc) - shortly to become 20%. Obviously Northstar will have to recoup some of the same charges, but get the figures cheaper at trade price and will pay only one handling charge for a larger amount of figures. They won't pay VAT (iirc), but will have to charge it. I could be wrong, but I believe the prices on the Brigade site don't include US sales tax... so their domestic customers would have to add this on anyway.

In all, whichever way you do it and whoever you get it from, I'm pretty sure that the difference per figure will be pence (or cents, if you're in the EU). Obviously buying them from Northstar at a show will be cheaper and of course they will get to you quicker if they haven't got to cross the Atlantic. Swings and roundabouts really.

The important thing is to buy them to encourage more to be made. They have a few uses outside AC57, depending on the pack and of course they are Paul Hicks sculpts, so you could just sit and stare at them, if nothing else.

WARNING! Semi-boring anecdote coming on:

An American friend in the miniature business once told me about another acquaintance who always brought, like other people bring pocket books or magazines, a miniature to places where he expected to sit an wait for a while (doctors offices, bus stations and so on). He called them 'starers'.

A bit weird, to be sure, but obviously some of us can relate to it in some weird way.

...

Well, I *did* warn you...

Better than calling them shineys I suppose.

On the semi-boring front, due to some weird glitch on LAF, my post count actually said 'leet' instead of 1337, by the time I'd realised, I'd ruined it and posted again. I've also lost my new seasonal 'broken image' avatar as the Prof seems to have fixed the custom avatar posting thingy.
 ::)

Anyway, back on topic... has anyone got pictures of the FDF in their NBC gear? I've ordered some, but I'd like a peek to keep me occupied till they get here.
