"You don't stop playing when you get old - you get old when you stop playing"

Those are wise words indeed.  :)

Nice looking Playmobile models. There's a lot of larger scale wargaming going on using Playmobile. Try punching in "Garden Wargaming" on google and you'll e what I mean.

I just received a whole lot of weapons, terrain bits and a few more knights, so I'm basicly just waiting for the baseplates to show up.

I found myself looking on ebay for old lego sets (and being shocked by the high prices) to fill the 20 year gap in my lego castle collection with the intention of getting them for games I know I will never play for lack of opponents.

Curse you all! >:(

Don't use Ebay.

Use Bricklink. Much better, cheaper and safer.

I just got these bases for my knights on Bricklink and they cost next to nothing:

You should be able to get Classic Castle minifigs for about 5 USD and up... depending on how rare they are.

Great looking gaming area :-*
Love the DragonKnight, too...

Allthough, a Dragon in the "Old Style", like the horses, would be even better ;)

That looks excellent! I've given in to the lure of this too (as if I needed another project) and have started adding some ebay items to my childhood lego castle stuff (including some bootleg lego's for more variety).

It is a good thing my three-year-old can't use the PC yet. He'd be bankrupting me on Legos after seeing this.

Try a combination of HG Wells "Little Wars" and Lego Star Wars.
I've had a few trial games along these lines - great fun - the little guys do fall down when hit by a matchstick fired from an old Britains cannon!

Well...they're not Legos, but here's a link to Mordheim with Play Mobile:  http://www.e-phil.net/playmobil/mordheim09/index.html . Pretty cool stuff, eh?!

With my country's new "policy" of import costs, I am SERIOUSLY considering moving to LEGO and MEGA BLOCKS wargaming! Pirates, of course!  ;)

I post these links in every LEGO thread I come across because they are so usefuk, I hope you don't mind :)

Long ago I found these pics for "Hoverwars", supposedly a LEGO Sci-Fi wargame akin to G.E.V. by Steve Jackson Games:

There's actually quite a number of rulesets for LEGO wargaming, including one for dungeon crawling.

I built a huge fleet of pirate ships, multiple islands etc. for a big pirate game but never got around to play it, I could never decide on a ruleset for my grandiose plans but all models still exists after all these years, in my parents attic:

My love for LEGO pirates harkens back to one day when I was a kid and visited my best friend, he had a mid-sized ship of the Red Coats / Governor's Troops / Navy and I brought over my big pirate ship and we also had a big pirate island fortress and various smaller boats etc. We played it as a mixture of TableTop game and those old MB games where you had to shoot at each other's armies with rubber band cannons and catapults. This was basically my first experience of wargaming even though I didn't know something like this existed back then :) Anyway, we just took turns moving ships and then used the small cannons to aim and shoot, whatever was hit was out of the game! A lot of poor palm tree leaves were broken off their stems that day ;) I also remember that the pirates held some sailors captive, we just removed the leg pieces and put them onto the carpet next to some rocks, in our imaginations they were bound there in the waist-high water. I think we also had some simple melee combat rules. Good times, I wish I had photos.

Some of these LEGO mechs are on par with what is out there now we buy. And others with small corrections follow right behind.
