Rough Map of Pellucidar
« on: December 24, 2010, 11:55:43 PM »
This is a map I made a few years ago.

Most folks remember that what is ocean on the outer crust is land in the inner world and what is land on the outer crust is ocean in the inner world. Thus Pellucidar has more land area than the outer world. No body seems to have a hard time imagining this change in their mind. However... it may not quite be as you imagine.

When you drill through the Earth's crust and burst into the world of eternal daylight, you have to remember to switch your outer world map on a vertical axis.... like looking at a reflection in a mirror. Remember, you're on the inside looking outward, or, as it were, toward the outer world.

It's easy to imagine David Innes & Abner Perry entering Pellucidar where they did... they started drilling in Connecticut, which is on the coastal plain, so they came out close to the sea.

The Ja's Anoroc Islands were probably in the Gulf of Mexico region.

The Korsars might have been located on the islands that are the Mediterranean area on the outer crust.

Sorry for the roughness of this map. It was obviously a quick and dirty job. All I wanted to do was get the land and sea and oceans in proper perspective for myself.

Anyway... enjoy!

Warren

Quick and dirty or not, it's a terrific visualisation. Well done.

I was just thinking.... could the meteor impact that killed help kill off the dinosaurs, cause the moon-like sphere that hangs over the "Land of Awful Shadow"?

Just some fun hypothesis.
