http://flashman14.blogspot.com/2010/12/25mm-essex-sudan-war-egyptians.html

These are no longer de rigeuer but back in the day they were quite inspiring, bulky and painted up nice.  I post them as images of painted ones are really hard to come by and I really like looking at these old school figs ...

I wish I had known about those peel off tufts though when I based these a couple years ago - I think I'd prefer them to the flock balls on there now ...

Questions, comments and followers are welcome!
"One of My Men Became Restless" focuses on 15mm Horse & Musket periods and 25mm Horse & Musket, Fantasy, Horror and Victorian everything! Occasionally there'll be stuff of related interest but it's mostly a painters blog.  See it all here: http://flashman14.blogspot.com/

I really like the old Essex Sudan range. I still have some of the British naval brigade figures and they still venture onto the table alongside my Copplestones. ;)

Nicely done :-* :-*

I too like Essex, my first proper wargames army was Essex Khitan many many years ago. I fear for ranges like this as the trend continues towards more expensive "character" models and sets of six or ten figures for a nation. Traditional armies just cannot be made at three pound a figure unless you own a gold mine and even then where is the variation? It some times seems that with all the progress we have seen, the core of the hobby is actually dying and all that will be left is painters and small scale skirmishing. Rant over.

Very nice.  I'm a big fan of Essex (they are my "Go To" for 15mm)

I would love to visit their shop.  They have a room that has every figure theyh have produced on display.

Svenn, I agree with you.

Nothing wrong with Essex (I hope) as I still have a pile of ECW figures to paint up. ::)
