Altdorf Crusaders , Blood Bowl a start

My Halfling playing buddy has a bunch of teams he won't need so I'm thinking about trading/buying his unpainted Orc team as well 

Thats a very good choice.
Orcs and humans are IMO the best teams for anyone starting to play the game.
They both have the basic skills to handle the ball right from the start, and each leans toward a different type of game play: speed/agility vs strength/armour.
