Foreign Legion green beret/appropiate paint to use?
« on: January 21, 2011, 03:58:35 PM »
Hi,

Looking for that particular apple green shade used by the Legion for their berets. Anyone know a decent paint match using vallejo or foundry paints? Whoever painted those Eureka moderns got it spot on!

thanks Tim

IIRc I used Vallejo's 'Intermediate green'. Works for me.

For completeness sake, for the Central Europe pattern camouflage uniform I use the following. Stone Grey, German Camouflage Brown, Mid Olive and Grey Black. The second is from their Panzer Aces range but similar tones exist in their normal ranges. For the web gear on the helmeted versions I've used a mix, as that seems to reflect current service practice but I've found that  'French Tanker' from the PzAces scheme works well for the pouches and vest. I just highlight witha mix of this and a tiny bit of white or buff and then dip the figures. Looks remarkably good.

Oh and Vallejo's Field Grey from  their normal range makes the best match for the knee/ elbow pads. I have painted oneor two in black for variety. Gloves I've varied across the colour spectrum, black dark olive, buff and most a sort of light greenish grey.

My pleasure. Just a clarification the ballistic vest on the beret wearing version is in the same Central European  cam scheme as the uniforms.
