Cheers again for all the comments.

I went with the concencus and painted it red. For the more VSF feel I painted it the same sort of red that old steamtrains were, so it's also not too far removed from the Silverhawks ship....

That looks really quite excellent!  :D

I also think the dark red colour you went with helps to make it look as if it's underwater (since colours do often look different and dark/more subdued when underwater).

Anyway, top stuff; I always enjoy looking though your threads, so thank you for sharing!  8)

Not meaning to hijack, but here's a Silverhawks re-release:

Very nice job, I may attempt some sea creature myself.

Red ones go faster... a fallacy often mentioned by people who drive fast...  ???
Do like this mechanical monster of the deep. Would have liked to have seen it painted varying shades of metallic green and blue but it certainly looks good.

Andy, that looks cracking! And by the way; in water, red is the last colour to go in the colour spectrum as one goes deeper. A damn fine colour for the sub. :D

Not sure that's right as I was in a Sealife centre the other day and there was a group of fish in there that were very good hunters as they were red and the other fish couldn't see them.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Jim,you are correct. And remember a fish tank is not an natural enviroment, ever noticed fish moving? It is amazing watching the counter-shading work,as they twist and turn, flashes of silver and bronze. I'll shut up..... lol

Exactly, fish also sense things along their lateral line (following the spine). I would have to know if the red fish were pelagic (like a tuna),where they came from ,environment et cetera.

I believe it was a type of soldier fish. Big eyes, and not very pretty :)
I assume it's a deep dweller due to the eyes etc but if red is the last to go, how would that act as camoflague, surely the colour would be irrelevant?
