ID-help on some old Citadel orcs please...
« on: January 08, 2011, 10:26:36 PM »
Went through my box of orcy goodness today and came across a few I haven't been able to check off in any catalogues...

Left guy looks like fella #4 from Notlob's - got the same body and spear, but one arm and head differs. Not much of a mystery really.

Middle guy is a complete mystery though... No idea where he's from, but I feel safe in assuming it's a Perrys sculpt. Right? =)

Right guy is also a bit of a no-brainer, he's pretty much like the other orc shamen from that era. Not in any catalogue, so wondering if he's from a special set or something.

I can't help you with the identification, but have you tried the "Collecting Citadel Miniatures Yahoo! Group"?

Yeah, I'm a member there. Haven't posted there yet as I don't frequent it daily. I'm checking here and Frothers first. =)

Ive got two of those - the guy on the right is one of the minis you got with the old 80s Wyvern kit -

http://www.solegends.com/citcat88/0804dragons.jpg

He isn't pictured here but he appeared in the box I got!

The pot-bellied fellow on the left I also own - can't remember exactly where he came from but I believe he might have been part of a bolt thrower kit in the late 80s/ early 90s?

In fact - just found the link as I was typing - http://www.solegends.com/citcat90winter/TradeCatWinter1990Pg32-01.htm

Fuck me sideways Steve, you linked to both the mystery orc and the not-Notlob's crewman in that link. =) So, all sorted then! Cheers!

Left: Crewman for bolt thrower.
Middle: Crewman for stone thrower, same catalogue page! =)
Right: Wyvern rider on foot. Which I should've remembered, as you told me when I got it from you! =P

Damien: I have an urge to paint orcs, that's where I started out with Citadel figs once upon a time. Will happen soon(-ish). For orc flesh, I recommend Thant's blog - but I'm sure you've been there! =)

Glad to be of service! Not sure how I missed the rocklobber crewman though  ::)

Looking forward to seeing a bit of paint slapped on them!  :D

I'm pretty sure I have the middle guy in a set of perry orc villagers, figures often did double duty so is possible..

I have that boltthrower set all painted up in enamels . They must be the first non historical figures I ever bought or painted.
