« on: January 12, 2011, 02:53:08 PM »
The League of Extraordinary Kriegspielers next outing in York at Vapnartak on Sunday 6th February....

Zanzibar192?.  On the face of it a colonial backwater.  But beneath the surface a raging torrent of violent intrigue, social unrest, global slavery, drug running, international espionage, bad dentistry and voodoo.  'The Great Game' is afoot by the lapping waters of the Indian Ocean and the fate of nations may turn on the events of the next 24 hours...........

Rodge is:                                                      'Major’ Dai Llewellyn Stroganoff, Belgian trader and confidente of the Sultan
Cameron Thomson is:                                      Vice Counsel Otto Von Tuggitoff, the German attache
Don is:                                                         Brigadier Donald Linn, himself, on a visit to the British Consul on Zanzibar.
Iain Blackwood is                                           V.I.Blackwood, himself, wherabouts unknown
Jon Carter is:                                                Commander Pankhurst Randolph, R.N., captain of the HMS Pheasant, a coastal protection ship
Adrian Shepherd is:                                         'General' Adid, a local entreprenuer
Ted is:                                                         Mandingo McGurk, the head official of the local Laskar union.
Gibby is:                                                       Captain Mustafa Lookesee, Head of the notorious Zanzibar secret police, the K.N.K ('Kufyeka na Kuchoma')
Der Baron is:                                                 Mongolian Head of State on a courtesy visit with the Mongolian State Circus
Davey Phillip:                                                 Vaughen Widdler, a touring Welsh tenor and on-the-run bankrupt.
Mad Bob is:                                                   Charlie Chin, Chinese porn 'entrepreneur' and Laundry King.

...more when I think it up.......

So those Zanzibaris we were looking at the other day are for the 1920s?

That's pushing it a bit, unless it is some sort of Sultan's ceremonial guard in their parade whites. Zanzibar's army was disbanded in 1906. There were various later constabularies and other outfits formed that came and went, but by the 1920s Zanzibar's garrison is the very khaki King's African Rifles.

But don't let that stop you.  ;)
