looking for modern 28mm soviets
« on: January 13, 2011, 08:15:20 AM »
Just got me a Imprint BMP3 (so sexy btw) and need some different troops apart from my Eureka 1980's style soviets.

I know of red star (plan on getting some of theirs) but any of you lads (or ladies) know of any where else?

Thanks in advance

Mongrel Miniatures, have a very extensive range of 80's soviets

Ratnik have much larger (in winter wear) russians for chechen fighting, probably not what you are looking for, but if so, then PM bungle (a LAF'er) as he has loads for sale.

Red Star and Mongrel are compatible, as are the Eureka (i've got all 3) - i'd say the Mongrel ones are the best of the lot.

Yes, TAG has some nice figs. Richard Ansell sculpts I believe. Only issue is that the Dragunov barrells are too thin and tend to break off.

Man, those Ratniks bring new meaning to the term "chunky."  :o

I love the Mongrel stuff but for really modern figs you can't beat Red Star.

There's also the old HLBS 1/48 figures.

It is worth getting the separate heads for some of the Redstar as some seem a little small IMO. Nice figures I have a couple of packs of each release but also watch the weapons as they are very fragile with barrels bending and the like..this is my one gripe with them
