Spotted this lovely pic from someone's travels in the Gobi Desert

Note the pole is shorter and buttressed to give it greater staying power against sand and wind.

An idea I saw used by David Bonk and Chris (Sash and Sabre designer) during some of their Carnage and Glory games was to put tubes into the terrain and have a spigot under the tree base to secure the tree into the tube. Same idea could be used for the telegraph poles. Any unused 'tubes' could be 'plugged' using a bush on a washer with spigot.

Dead clever, him. Best suggestion so far.

Very hard on the dining room table if your terrain consists of a ground cloth.

Westwind poles arrived this morning.  Perfect size and look great. A good weight as well.  I am going to mount them on 2p pieces to give them extra stability. Will need a bit of cleaning up as they are a tad flash heavy. Recommended.

Are you going to wire them?

Oh, you are a card, aren't you! :) Not a bad idea though, that'd keep the clumsier gamers off the  scenery.

Having seen some of Ignatieff's devotion to the hobby in the flesh, I think he might only be half joking. lol

should be 240v, of course.  No idea why we pour twice as many volts through light fittings than everyone else....

Try Brazil, where you get 115, 220, 240 etc etc depending on what state and sometimes even what city you are in.

If this is historical wargaming, then you must have the same voltage as was in use in Russia in 1920. :D ;)
