the 1/144 scale stuff has loads of fighters available in the same scale from F-Toys, so is a good skirmish scale...

EDIT: anyone know how long the Studio Bergstrom Falcon is, I assume 1/20000 but want to check as it's part of the fighter range, which doesn't match the capital ships.

The 'fleetscale' aka. 'stub-fighter' MF is 16mm long. So it's nowhere near 1:20000. Closer to 1:2000, I would think? In 1:20000 it would be microscopic...

yeah, the resin manufacturer have a broader range than I thought... not over yet though...

I have an ERTL Death Star, which is of course stupidly underscale, but about a foot across, so will be doing fleet at some point...

but then... the 1/144 stuff from F-Toys is so damned nice as well, and now I know there are other 1/144 stuff out there...

rules are secondary at this point...

is my crap maths right in that the 1/10000 Victory Star Destroyer would be 9cm long?

£20 for a single model, gonna be tough getting a fleet up...

and the 1/50000 has no suitable opponents...

That's close, the main hull pieces (2 parts, upper and lower) are 95mm. Then you add the thruster assembly which should put the overall length to 100mm.

The OS ships are a bit pricy yes, but they're resin and multipart kits, which explains the cost a bit. And fine kits they are too. I don't have any problem paying the asked price (29 dollars US), but then I only got about 3-5 capital ships like that per side, I think. Loads of smaller ships which are cheaper. And as capital ships go, 10 cm is pretty much ok size on the tabletop.

EDIT: actually, when I bought the OS stuff, US dollar rate was much lower, I think. So I was lucky I got them when I did, saved me a few euros.

I've heard that the quality of the OS ships is very good so I certainly don't mind paying that little bit extra. In fact, I think I'll be getting some this week  :)

cheers
