  • Can't paint but dreams...
I have decided to run through the Enemy Within as a skirmish campaign only, and now I'm wondering weather I'll role up random PCs or something else. I thought it would be fun to use the figures that appear in painting form on the old rulebook, as I intend to start with the Oldenhaller Contact (as I did all those years ago...)

I have the wizard, Johann Zaubedich as pictured in the rulebook plate p288-9

And Was intending to use Aldred Fellblade for the guy in plate (also pictured in the same plate) from F2 as listed in the citadel jouranl Spring 1987.

But for the troll slayer and ranger guy I wonder if anyone knew of exact figure matches? And possible the correct figure for the guy in plate. Or if I was wrong to assume they were all based on or inspired figures.

Thanks

Binmann

Getting worried here, so I've added a pic:

Doesn't show the guy on the back...

I don't think they're taken from citadel miniatures. Slayers, for example, are not allowed to wear any kind of armour yet in the cover we have an Slayer with chainmail. Unless we're speaking about miniatures before my time, of course.

So, thinking in other manufacturers, I have found a proxy for the Dwarf (not sure if he wears chainmail, but it resembles the illustration even in proportions, unlike the deformed GW-Dwarves).

One of the dwarf lords of legend was a slayer in chainmail, that may be the one.

It's the first one on this page: http://www.solegends.com/citcat912/c20216dwfadvs-h.htm

TH: that's the ogre and some of the orcs look familiar too!

I don't have the book, so don't know what is on the back of it.  :)

Would be easier if you could post the pics in question. =)

I think either White Knight's suggestion or Juggo from Magnificent Sven would work for the dwarf.

Man don't go linking to that wisard on ebay ;)

I lost him to a friend in the mid 90's and have recently been thinking of getting him back. I still have the warrior but never found a decent proxy for the ranger on the back with his fur hat and two hand weapons. The lords of legends slayer is perhaps closest to the dwarf but is armed wrong.

I remember a WD short story that was essentially based on this picture that I think went on to be developed into felix and gotrek so from that stand point those two miniatures are worth getting as those two....

I have a number of the original Enemy Within character minis bought as adventures in about 90/91 not realising what they were till later. They are affordable if dear on ebay.

I painted my ogre to match his appearance on the cover, including wound (he survived) and built him a little step to match the scene.
I am quite sad you see...

Not sad at all, excellent attention to detail!

I REALLY like the troll. The colours really add to his personality, he looks a little blue you see! Melancholic troll!  ::)

In this gallery you can see the slayer (Kimril Giantslayer) painted to match the rulebook cover:

Old thread sorry, but I just got the same idea to recreate the WFRP 1st ed cover.
I have been looking for minis that match and found these:

Ogre Citadel C23, "Gladiator"
Fighter Citadel C01, "Aldred Fellblade" (also from Tragedy of McDeath)
Slayer Citadel BC3, "Kimril Giantslayer" (also depicted on Citadel Journal autumn 85)
Wizard Citadel C02, "Archmage"
Ranger?? on the back cover.

The orcs seem to match Kev Adams range of orcs.

Did you complete your collection btw? =)
